History
In 1984 Gary Thrapp established G. Thrapp Jewelers in Indianapolis at the corner of 56th and Illinois. It started as a one-room store and now encompasses the equivalent of three storefronts.
Built on the premise of creating a welcoming environment for clients to shop, a visit to G. Thrapp Jewelers is more like visiting an old friend with a warm, comforting, homey feel that includes two fireplaces. When G. Thrapp first opened its doors, it did not carry a single designer line, but instead simply sold ‘jewelry’.
Since then, the store has picked up over a dozen designer jewelry lines including Yvel, Konstantino, Scott Kay Fashion, Cynthia Ann, Dana Kellin, and Norman Covan. G. Thrapp Jewelers was the first retailer in Indiana to carry David Yurman. Over the years, G. Thrapp has continued to add to its designer lines, additionally acquiring several new bridal lines over the years including Christopher Designs, Martin Flyer, Sylvie, and La Reina.
In 2007 G. Thrapp Jewelers embarked on a major expansion and renovation designed to enhance the buying experience and to add more volume to the store. The new space was solely dedicated to the store’s bridal lines offering private, personalized consultations. In 2012, G. Thrapp Jewelers has re-decorated the store’s interior, complete with hardwood floors and new display cases. We have continued keep the same homey feel with a fresh new look.
